The forest inventory dataset provides polygon-level estimates of forest attributes for the PathFinder study regions in geopackage format. Estimates are derived from National Forest Inventory (NFI) data contributed by consortium member countries and are generated using the nFIESTA estimation framework, further developed and extended within the PathFinder project. The dataset represents estimates for the reference year 2020. The estimation workflow is designed to produce statistically consistent estimates across countries and regions while accounting for differences in national inventory protocols, definitions, and sampling designs.
The estimates are based on design-based inference principles commonly applied in National Forest Inventories. All processing and estimation routines are implemented in the open source nFIESTA framework, ensuring transparency and reproducibility of the generated outputs.
The geopackages visualized in the PathFinder portal include Forest area, Above ground biomass, Deadwood biomass and Above ground biomass change. The geopackages can be downloaded by pushing the download button at the top left corner of the portal window.
